What do you do when a restaurant credit card machine goes down

What do you do when a restaurant credit card machine goes down…and you have no cash…and the server just says our machine is down…and offers no solution when you say you have no cash? Plus they just pretty much hold you hostage…saying “you wait as long as we are here.” Until their machine comes back on.
